Rich in heritage, Bayview Cemetery, Crematory & Mausoleum is located on land once known as "Bay View Park,” a popular recreational destination first mentioned in the Hamilton Spectator back in 1883. The area included the Bay View Hotel, which operated until 1915.

In 1925, the Hamilton Mausoleum, one of the first of its kind in Canada, opened its doors on land previously occupied by the hotel.

The Mausoleum is featured in many academic journals on architecture and art, particularly due to its stained glass windows by distinguished Canadian artist James Blomfield (who also designed the Vancouver Coat of Arms). In fact, Blomfield and his wife chose the Bayview Mausoleum as their final resting place.

Owned and operated by the Markey family, Bayview Mausoleum has served the Halton, Hamilton-Wentworth and Niagara region for almost a century.

In the mid 1960s, Bayview also opened a crematorium in response to community need.

Bayview Cemetery offers burial plots for cremated remains only. Please note, however, that if your loved one will be resting in another cemetery, you can still arrange attractive and affordable headstones and markers with us at Bay Gardens.

Bayview hosts a popular summer memorial service and concert, as well as a candle lighting memorial service every November which honours fallen Canadian Forces members, as well as all our loved ones.

Knowing that the holidays can be difficult for those experiencing grief, we also celebrate an annual Christmas tree lighting at Bayview Cemetery. During this traditional event, families are invited to place a decoration on our community Christmas tree, and enjoy seasonal music, apple cider and other refreshments as our guests. We also invite a keynote speaker to address questions about coping with loss during the holiday season, then invite questions from guests.
