Alvey, Dennis 1919-2011

Peacefully at Grandview Lodge in Dunnville on Thursday December 8, 2011, at the age of 92. Dennis was predeceased by his beloved wife Gertrude (1985).  He will be greatly missed by his children David (Marge), Brian (Marie), Dan (Jane), Dianne (David) who are all grateful to have had him in their lives.  Dennis also leaves behind 12 grand children, 10 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, who will miss him very much.  He also leaves behind loving sister Edith (Gord) Bull.   He is predeceased by parents Dennis and Rose, brother Harry (Caroline) and dear great granddaughter Mandy (2011).    Dennis was a veteran of the second world war, employee of American Can and was retired for 22 years.  He spent many memorable holidays in Barbados with the love of his life Gertrude.  Dennis was always happy and good natured making us feel thankful for all his love and support. We would like to thank all the staff at Grandview Lodge, especially the girls in the Hillview Wing who treated Dennis with care and dignity.  Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME – “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Rd E, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Sunday, December 11, 2011 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm.  A Celebration of Dennis’ life will take place in the Bay Gardens chapel on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 11:00 am.  Private family burial at White Chapel Cemetery.  If desired as an expression of sympathy a donation to charity of your choice would be appreciated.  Please sign the online Book of Condolences at www.baygardens.ca
