• Does this funeral home provide you with a contract that details all the goods and services they will provide? What goods and services are included in the quoted price, and which aren’t? (Under Ontario law, a funeral service provider must provide you with acompletely itemized contract and a pricelist. The Board of Funeral Services approves these contracts prior to use. Bay Gardens can also help you settle your loved one’s estate, and other related matters. This “aftercare” is available to you free of charge. Throughout this entire process, from the first contact with Bay Gardens, we can provide you with bereavement support.  Access to grief and bereavement counseling is available, free of charge.)

Ask these questions before you choose a cemetery, mausoleum or cremation service provider:

• How long has this cemetery, mausoleum or cremation provider been in business? What kind of reputation do they have in the community? Have your friends or family used this company before? Other mausoleums consider “perpetual” to mean only five years; after that, you are charged extra to maintain the vigil light. • Does this cremation provider use a local crematorium? Who are the owners? Do they ever transport more than one body at a time? (Bayview has owned and operated its own crematorium since the 1960s. There are other cremation providers in Milton and Paris, Ontario. However, they are between 30 kilometers and 40 kilometers away, respectively, and do NOT guarantee that your loved one is transferred privately to their facilities.)
