People are put in boxes called caskets when they are buried. Sometimes it is a plain box or sometimes it is fancy.

Casey, 9 years oldWhen someone dies their heart stops beating and they stop breathing. The person as we knew him or her is not there anymore.
Death seems like a bad thing because we love the person and want them to stay here. We feel death is unfair. But everything that is born has to die one day. Sometimes when a person is very old or very sick, we can be glad that they are no longer suffering. That doesn’t mean we don’t miss the person after they’re gone, though!
Lots of people believe that after we die, the person’s special spirit goes somewhere else to live. Some call this place heaven. Other people have other words for this place. Some people think we will meet these people again when we get to heaven. Different people have different ideas about what heaven looks like.
