Let's Talk About Men's Health

Hello! You may recall in May and September of this year, the staff at Bay Gardens and Bayview Cemetery held special, month-long campaigns to raise public awareness of women's cancers and suicide prevention, respectively.

This month, we continue our work of bringing important issues to the forefront. With November being known for the Movember movement, we felt it was a good chance for us to turn our focus to the awareness of men's cancers and mental health. Our uniforms will change for the month with the addition of a new tie and scarf, and lapel pins showing the necktie logo of Prostate Cancer Canada. The various shades of blue represent the awareness colours of these two leading men's health organizations. These organizations tackle men's health on a global scale, year round, addressing some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, suicide prevention and mental health. They know what works for men, and how to find and fund the most innovative research to have both a global and local impact.

Our fathers, brothers, partners and friends face a health crisis that isn't being talked about enough. Men are dying too young and we cannot afford to stay silent.

Working to support the Movember movement and Prostate Cancer Canada, as well as the many fine organizations offering men's services in the Hamilton and surrounding areas,  we invite you to share this purpose with us. If talking about it helps to save one person, it is well worth it. Watch our Facebook page to hear more about what we're doing.
