In Touch Online (May)

In Touch Online

Hello! May flowers are in bloom and isn't it wonderful to see? Speaking of May, it's always a special time when the second Sunday of the month comes around each year. It is a time to remember someone very special in our lives - the first woman we knew, our mothers.

This month gives us at Bay Gardens and Bayview Cemetery a chance to share a new initiative with you, our valued community members and friends.

You may have noticed a change in our uniform lately, the addition of pink scarves and neckties for our staff members. Although typically, October is breast cancer awareness month, we chose May as a tribute to the women in our lives who have been touched by cancer in any way. To that, we will be wearing the new scarves and ties for the entire month to bring more awareness to this issue.

What a touching tribute to our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters, aunts, relatives and friends.

Welcome New Staff Members!

Please join us in giving a warm welcome to our newest team members:

Estuardo Lopez and Trevor Trimble, both experienced licensed funeral directors in Ontario, located typically at our Rymal location, and Secina Ching, Cemetery Services Director, who brings much experience in cemetery sales and knowledge to Bayview Cemetery, Crematory & Mausoleum. Welcome aboard!

An Open Letter From Friends In Grief

fig_LOGO.jpg

"We, at Friends In Grief, are looking forward to being part of the Bay Gardens team to ensure that we continue supporting our Hamilton and surrounding communities in their Grief Journey.

Due to the wonderful work and commitment of all our Facilitators over the past 30 years we are happy to inform you that all our 8 to 10-week peer support groups (Adult, Suicide, Men's, Spousal/Partner Loss Groups) are well attended and are closed until the Autumn sessions begin in September. Our monthly Drop-in Groups are also going strong and are available 12 months of the year.

Our next Facilitator Orientation Training will be held on Saturday, June 18th, 2016. More information will be available closer to the date. For anyone who has past experience as a facilitator or would like to join Friends In Grief in this role, please let us know.

Any current or past group participant is welcome to join us for lunch on the second Friday of every month at Sackville Senior Centre. The cost is very reasonable and you do not have to register with Friends In Grief - just come out with your whole group or yourself and ask to be seated with other members of FIG. Everyone is friendly and you will not feel alone.

For more information on any of our programs, or to have us speak to your group or organization, please contact us at 905-318-0059 or via email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Paint The Town Red Gala - May 5 @ Michelangelo's

It was indeed Throwback Thursday in Hamilton last week, as our staff attended the Paint The Town Red gala in support of The Bob Kemp Hospice. With a 1980's theme, you could say the room was aglow in neon, big hair and leg warmers. A great night for a worthy cause!

Jane's Walk - May 7th in Aldershot

This annual Spring time event took place in the village of Aldershot as a walking tour throughout the historical areas of the village. Bayview Cemetery, Crematory & Mausoleum offered use of the grounds for a BBQ, hosted by the Aldershot Lions Club. The cemetery and mausoleum are significant to the history of the area and attract many visitors each summer for historical tours. Stay tuned for more information soon about this year's tours.
