Cremation Provider Checklist

  • Do you use a local crematorium?  Who is/are the owner(s)?
  • Do you ever transport more than one body at a time?
  • How far is the crematory from my chosen funeral home?
  • Can the cremation be witnessed by a family member or designated individual?
  • Are there scattering gardens available?
  • Is the crematory a member of the Cremation Association of North America?
  • Are there procedures to track the deceased through the cremation process verifying the identity following cremation?  What are the procedures?
  • How are the cremated remains returned if an urn is not provided prior to cremation?
  • Are there family counsellors available to discuss memorialization options with me?
  • What is the policy in regards to disposing prosthetics, artificial hips, knees, etc.?
  • Is your crematory open for inspection by the public?
