William Markey

Markey-Dermody Funeral Homes & Crestmount Funeral Homes were owned & operated by Mr. & Mrs. William Markey from 1970 until 1978. In 1978, the untimely death of Mr. William Markey resulted in the transfer of ownership to Mr. Christopher Markey, William’s son (also a Funeral Director).

Markey-Dermody was successfully run by Christopher Markey until the early 1990s when the business was sold to the American company Service Corp International (SCI). SCI still owns and operates Markey-Dermody Funeral Homes and Crestmount Funeral Homes.  The Markey Family does not currently maintain an interest in these facilities.

Mr. William Markey left a legacy of respect not only for one's own family, but for others as well. His son Mr. Patrick Markey (and his family) owns and operates Bayview Cemetery, Crematory & Mausoleum where a legacy of respect for the rights of the deceased and their family carries on to this day.
